Enrichment specialists at Keshet include music teachers
knowledgeable in Judaic and secular music. Our music program focuses on songs
and music related to Jewish holidays and early childhood themes, while music
every Friday features songs related to Shabbat.
In addition, our students attend regular movement
program run by
Gymboree.
Gymboree
teachers guide the children through gross motor
activities that exercise their bodies and imagination.

Teachers work with
librarians in the children's section of the local Public Library
to obtain age-appropriate books pertaining to our learning units. Children are
exposed to an ever-changing array of carefully selected reading materials.
Also, Keshet has an extensive Library of our own
that is growing everyday through donations and our birthday book club. Each
class goes to the Library regularly for a special story time.

Throughout the year, Keshet arranges field trips to
supplement classroom activities. These may include visits to a nature center or
museums. We also invite guests and performers to our classrooms. The
committed involvement of community Rabbis and Cantors, who conduct special
activities for the children, is a highlight during the holidays. Puppet show
performers are popular with our students as well.

Keshet celebrates all the Jewish holidays with age-appropriate activities,
music, stories, and special projects. For Shabbat, for example, we may bake our
own challah. All the classes learn prayers, sing songs, and welcome this weekly
celebration. Children make their own kiddush cups, candle holders, challah
covers, and tzedakah cans to use in their celebrations at home. Parents join
their children in a joyous Chanukah party in the winter and a model Passover
Seder each spring. The traditions and activities surrounding these and other
holidays - Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Tu B'shvat, Purim,
and others - are an important part of our program.

Keshet encourages birthday
celebrations at school which usually take place after lunch on the requested
day. (We ask families to please give one week's notice.) Traditional party
food, such as cupcakes or ice cream, is the usual fare.

At
Keshet Child Development Center we offer an Extensive Enrichment Program during
after school hours. Each of the enrichment classes is run by professionals such
as Rainbow Drama Company, Abrakadoodle, Tiny Dancers
or Gymboree Company
and they are very popular with our students. We regard this
activity program as one of the highlights of Keshet's curriculum.

We offer classes in
soccer, drama, music, yoga, science, art, computers, ballet,
creative dance, cooking and we always look for new ideas.
